HOOVER, Alabama – Chris Andritsos went deep twice and Asa Lacy and Cason Sherrod combined on a three-hitter as the Texas A&M Aggies shut out the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs, 7-0, in the second round of the SEC Tournament Wednesday at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Lacy (3-1) was dominant in his second career start. He scattered three hits and three walks while logging a career-high eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings, his longest outing as an Aggie. Sherrod came in to work the final three frames, retiring nine of 10 batters he faced on his way to his first save of the season. The pair combined for 13 strikeouts and limited to Georgia to three total bases, their season low. Georgia failed to score for the fourth time this season, with Aggie pitching accounting for two of the games.
After a weather delay of 58 minutes interrupted the third inning, the Aggie offense came out with two runs in the fourth off Georgia starter C.J. Smith (1-1) to take the game’s first lead. A&M extended their advantage on Andritsos’ homers in the seventh and ninth. A&M offense has scored 10 unanswered runs in the tourney after trailing Vanderbilt early on Tuesday.
Andritsos finished 3-for-5 with two dingers, three runs and four RBI. Logan Foster, Allonte Wingate and Cole Bedford each added two hits with Wingate logging two RBI.

T4 | The Aggies drew first blood in the top of the fourth. With one out, Braden Shewmake dropped a single in front of a diving Georgia centerfielder and Andritsos followed with a single through the right side to put runners on the corners. Shewmake was retired on a fielder’s choice grounder hit to third by Hunter Coleman. Andritsos slide around a tag at home to score from second on Logan Foster’s single to right field and Wingate plated Coleman with an infield single. A&M 2, UGA 0.
T7 | Texas A&M started a rally with two outs to build a more comfortable lead. Michael Helman was hit by a pitch and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt. Shewmake was intentionally walked and Andritsos made Georgia pay by blasting a first-pitch offering into the visitor bullpen in leftfield for a three-run home run, his sixth dinger of the season. A&M 5, UGA 0.
T9 | As the leadoff hitter in the frame, Andritsos delivered again this time on a 0-2 pitch out to left field, the first multi-homer game by an Aggie since Foster against Long Beach State in early March. After Andritsos’s dinger, Foster followed it up with a one-out triple and came around to score the Aggies’ seventh run on an RBI knock from Wingate. A&M 7, UGA 0.
