Aggies Topple Prairie View A&M, 9-0, in NCAA Regional Opener

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M junior Samantha Show tossed a one-hit shutout and five Aggies recorded a multi-hit game as the Aggie softball team overpowered Prairie View A&M, 9-0, Friday night at the NCAA College Station Regional at Davis Diamond.

The Aggies (41-16) pounded out 12 hits behind Show’s (12-5) dominating performance. The East Bernard, Texas, native struck out two and allowed only two baserunners on a single and a hit by pitch. The shutout marks the sixth of the season for Show.

Offensively, the top four hitters in the Aggie lineup, Keeli Milligan, Sarah Hudek, Tori Vidales and Kelbi Fortenberry, accounted for eight hits and scored seven runs. Vidales blasted her 12th homer of the season as the Texas A&M plated four runs in the first. Kaitlyn Alderink also added a multi-hit game as the junior went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Prairie View A&M (20-22) starter Crystal Castillo suffered the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in three innings of work.

B1 | The Aggies jumped out to an early lead as Keeli Milligan led off with an infield single and scored on a Sarah Hudek double. Tori Vidales followed with a two-run shot over the scoreboard in left to give Texas A&M a three-run lead. Kelbi Fortenberry doubled to left center, before touching home on a Kaitlyn Alderink single up the middle. A&M 4, PVAMU 0

B3| Samantha Show began the inning with a double to left as Kaitlyn Alderink drove her home on a double. Riley Sartain capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly. A&M 6, PVAMU 0

B4| Milligan got things going in the fourth with a triple to left center and scored on a Hudek sacrifice fly. After back-to-back singles from Vidales and Fortenberry, Ashley Walters plated Vidales with a single to left. A sacrifice fly from Show allowed Fotenberry to score. A&M 9, PVAMU 0
