COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M’s Amber Park is tied for sixth after an even-par 72 during the second round of the SEC Women’s Golf Championship. Park is 1-under for the tournament.

Park birdied two of the four par 3s on the par 72 / 6,274-yard Legacy Course at Greystone Golf & Country Club, helping her to a tournament-leading 2.75 stroke average on par 3s. She is six strokes behind tournament leader Marta Perez San Martin of Florida.

Texas A&M turned in a 5-over 293 Thursday, moving two spots up the leaderboard to a tie for 10th. The Aggies are just two shots off the cut-off for eighth place, and a berth in the match-play quarterfinals on Saturday morning. Florida leads the tournament at 9-under par.

“Obviously, we did a lot better today,” said head coach Andrea Gaston. “We didn’t have any big numbers, so that was a big difference from yesterday.”

“I was pleased overall, the ball-striking seemed to be a little bit better and we saw more birdie opportunities,” added Gaston.

Courtney Dow and Brooke Tyree each posted a 1-over 73s Thursday. Tyree is tied for 36th at 4-over, shooting an even-par first nine. Dow had five birdies, and is up to eight for the tournament, and is tied for 50th at 7-over.

Ava Schwienteck’s card added up to a 3-over 75 and she joins Dow in the tie for 50th. Katie Finley shot a 5-over 77, and is tied for 62nd at 12-over par.

Texas A&M tees off in the last of three stroke play rounds at 8:20 a.m. Friday, with live scoring available on golfstat.com.
