Paris finishes strong to defeat Blinn, 75-70

Missy Archie and Alexus Brigham combine for 35 points

BRENHAM, Texas — Despite four Buccaneers scoring double-digit points, Paris Junior College used a strong finish to defeat Blinn College women’s basketball, 75-70, Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Blinn drops to 9-11 overall and 3-6 in Region XIV play.

“We had problems getting defensive stops in the second half,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “I have to give Paris credit for making plays.”

Missy Archie led Blinn’s offense with 19 points, followed by Alexus Brigham with 16. Kristine Ezimako scored 14 points, while Alexus Wykoff recorded 10.

Blinn built an early 19-15 lead in the first quarter and led 37-31 at the half.

Paris scored 22 points in the third quarter to take a one-point lead (53-52) over the Buccaneers heading into the final quarter. Paris held onto the momentum to outscore Blinn 22-18 in the fourth quarter for the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will face Palo Alto College in a non-conference game on Monday, Jan. 28, at 6:30 p.m. on the road.
