HOUSTON, Texas — Texas A&M men’s tennis sent three student-athletes to separate singles finals and a doubles team into the final at the Rice Fall Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on the campus of Rice University Saturday morning.
"Austin [Abbrat] and Guido [Marson] did a great job of fighting all the way to the end," assistant coach Kevin O’Shea said. "Sometimes you just have to hang around and then things might go your way. Austin has been serving great this tournament only been broken twice. [Stefan] Storch is getting better and better with each match he plays.”
A&M freshman Stefan Storch picked up his second win in as many days with a three-set win over Reed Collier of Texas Tech and will take on Alan Sau Franco of Texas-Arlington in the final. Sophomore Guido Marson posted a straight-set win over Conrad Russell of Rice to advance to the final against Wesley Barnett of Rice. Sophomore Austin Abbrat posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over Alejandro Hayden of UTA to advances to Sunday’s final against Pasal Lorieul of A&M-Corpus Christi.
In doubles play, Abbrat and Marson outlasted Barnett and Karol Paluch of rice in a tiebreaker to reach the final against Hayden and Sau Franco of UTA.
Other schools to be represented at the tournament are Rice, Louisiana, Incarnate Word, Laredo College, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas Tech, UTA and UTSA.
