COLLEGE STATION, Texas — By the end of the 2021 season, Jett Huff could own every passing record at College Station High School.

"Going to camps and stuff this summer, seeing other quarterbacks, it just makes me appreciate the guy I have," College Station senior receiver Dalton Carnes says.

The Cougars quarterback tied a single game school record against Fort Bend Bush with six touchdown passes last Friday. He also broke the schools all-time touchdown record in the win. The senior signal caller though is the first to give his teammates all the credit, and point out the few mistakes he's made.

"I never have a doubt where they're going or when they're going to be there," Huff, a senior, says. "They rarely drop it and if they do, it's probably my fault."

Through two games this season, Huff is completing 76 percent of his passes for 413 yards and 10 touchdowns. Even more impressively, he hasn't turned the ball over yet.

The secret to the Cougars' offensive success is their chemistry.

"That's my guy," senior tight end Houston Thomas says about Huff. "I've been with him since fifth grade and I have a lot of trust in him."

That trust translates to the field. Just like Huff knows where his receivers will be, the receivers know exactly where the ball is going to be thrown.

"He puts it right where it needs to be," senior receiver Traylen Suel says. "I know where it needs to be, he knows where it needs to be and he makes it easy."

It's one thing to say you trust your quarterback but actions speak louder than words.

"I trust him to throw a ball and knock a water bottle off my head," Suel says.

Huff then took a few steps back, took aim, and knocked the bottle off Suel's head on the first try.

"Nice. I'm still alive," Suel says afterwards with a smile.

If that's not trust, I'm not sure what is.

The second ranked Cougars kick off District 8-5A DI play this Friday at home against Magnolia.
