BRENHAM, Texas — The City of Brenham announced on Tuesday, March 7 that road work is set to begin on South Chappell Hill Street on Wednesday, March 8.
According to the Facebook post, the road work will take place between Market Street and the 290 Feeder Road. The existing pavement will be removed, with an all-concrete street surface set to be installed at the end of the construction period. Some sections of the curb will be replaced as well.
Phase one of the work will start on Wednesday, with a segment of South Chappell Hill from Market Street to Stringer Street set to close. A detour to Brecker street will be available, and all businesses and homes will have roadway access during the maintenance period.
The second phase of the road improvements will see closures happening on one side of the road at a time. During this period, traffic will be one-way, according to the City of Brenham. Once the work is completed, traffic will be switched over while the other side is worked on.
The city says to expect delays when concrete is scheduled to be poured, but access will be available to drivers.
