TEXAS, USA — The warmest temperatures of the season are in the forecast over the next couple of days across Texas but the hot temperatures will not stick around long as another cool snap is on the way.
Temperatures will soar into the 90s & 100s Thursday and Friday across a good chunk of Texas. These temperatures are well above average. Most of Texas has average highs in the 70s & 80s this time of the year.
Despite the summer-like temperatures to end the week, a big cool down is in the forecast. There is strong agreement within the forecast models suggesting troughing will develop across central parts of the country next week. Troughing generally leads to cooler temperatures and that is what is expected for Texas.
The troughing in place across central parts of the country should remain in place for several days, which will allow for a few reinforcing pushes of cooler air next week into the following weekend. The temperatures in Texas are forecast to fall to below average values from April 13th through April 21st.
It appears high temperatures will fall into the 60s for a good chunk of Texas with lows falling into the 40s. A widespread freeze is not expected at this time.
