Strong cold front knocks temps into the 20s but a big warming trend by the weekend

A strong cold front moves in late-Tuesday, which will create a widespread freeze. A big warming trend takes shape over the weekend.

BRYAN, Texas — A weak cold front moved through the Brazos Valley Monday morning. This will lead to cooler overnight temperatures via drier air filtering in behind the cold front. Tuesday morning will start out in the low-to-mid-40s.

Tuesday's temperatures will quickly warm into the mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. Lurking to the north, late in the day, will be a much stronger cold front. This cold front will move through the Brazos Valley Tuesday afternoon. This will increase cloud-cover and there may be enough moisture for a couple sprinkles but most areas will remain dry. Temperatures will continually fall behind this cold front with a stiff northerly breeze of 20-30 mph by Tuesday night. A jacket will be needed if you have any late-evening plans.

Wednesday morning temperatures will fall into the mid-to-upper-30s with wind chills in the 20s. A piece of upper-level energy will rotate into northern Texas on the southern side of the upper-level low across southern Kansas. This may create an uptick in cloud cover for the northern zone Wednesday morning.
