IOLA, Grimes County — First responders performing animal rescues is something that captures the hearts of many, and is an even better story when it's done close to home.
During the cold snap that's stuck around the Brazos Valley over the past week, a dog was found stuck under a log jam under the Navasota River bridge, according to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office. The dog was believed to have been lost during the winter weather.
Fortunately, Animal Control Deputy Steven Lowery and Deputy Constable James Ellis were able to rescue the dog from the frigid waters and bring it to safety.
An exact description of the dog wasn't provided, but authorities urge anyone with knowledge on who the dog might belong to to contact the Grimes County Sheriff's Office. They can be reached by phone at 936-873-2151.
