Abandoned 'haunted woods' transforms into Halloween park in Bryan

Delusions Scream Park has started their second season of welcoming customers for a scare every weekend in October on a property that was previously abandoned.

BRYAN, Texas — Brian Page, the owner of Delusions Scream Park in Bryan, Texas, said he was fascinated from an early age with Halloween and tinkered with the idea of making a Haunted House of his own one day.

After restrictions loosened in Texas during the COVID-19 Pandemic, several attractions opened back up across the Lone Star State. Page said he was inspired by another attraction in the Bryan-College Station area to get the ball rolling on his idea.

“You know, Santa’s Wonderland has Christmas covered here, so I thought 'let’s do Halloween'," said Page.

Page acquired a 50-acre property that sits on the edge of Brazos County and Robertson County. From there, he said he cleared through many parts of the wooded area and eventually placed a trail for people to walk on. He said it took a lot of work, which he tackled completely by himself.

“There wasn’t even a gate into the property so I had to go through and clear everything out," said Page.

Page said that last year was his first year open to the public. A year later, and Page has added on new additions to the property, including a Pumpkin walking entrance, tree monster displays, and an homage to the popular horror film, "IT."

"People are going through and they think something is going to happen and something else happens," said Page.

At the end of the day, Page wants his property and the attraction he provides to be a fun experience for anyone who comes through their gates.
