MILAM COUNTY, Texas — A Cameron man will be spending the next decade behind bars for continuously abusing girls that lived with him through a number of cruel means.

According to the Milam County District Attorney's Office, Kevin Edward Martin, 37, was sentenced for Continuous Violence Against the Family, which came to light after a neighbor of Martin's reported that one of the children living with him was so hungry that she was eating cat food.

After an investigation, it was found that all girls--who were under the age of 10--were frequently underfed as well as physically and psychologically abused. Some of the abuse that was documented included the girls being locked in a shed for extended periods of time, being duct taped to their beds at night, physically fighting each other for sport, being bitten by a dog that was "encouraged" to do so, and being fed "slop" made in a blender.

All of the children have been placed in a safe, stable home by the Department of Family and Protective Services, who intervened immediately once they became aware of the situation.

Martin's wife and co-defendant, Toni, was sentenced for the same charges exactly one year ago.
