Police: 1 kidnapping suspect arrested, 2 wanted after couple escapes from Airbnb home in DeSoto

Three armed suspects took the victims, a 72-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, by gunpoint and drove them to an Airbnb in DeSoto, police said.

MIDLOTHIAN, Texas — One suspect of three suspects has been arrested in connection with an aggravated kidnapping after two people, who had been taken Monday night, escaped from a home, officials said.

According to the Midlothian Police Department, at about 9:48 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, the department was contacted by the DeSoto Police Department concerning a possible kidnapping that occurred in their city. Midlothian police officers responded to the alleged location of the incident and also a location in DeSoto to meet with officers and the victims.

Investigators determined that on the evening of Oct. 9, three men arrived at the victims’ home located in the 5000 block of Vernon Point in Midlothian. Police said one of the men was a known acquaintance of the victims.

The suspects were armed and took the victims, a 72-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, by gunpoint and drove them to an Airbnb in DeSoto, police said.

Police said at the Airbnb, located in the 600 block of Priscilla Lane, the victims were tied up, and the suspects tried to gain access to their online accounts. Police said after being held for several hours, two of the three suspects left the home.

Police said the victims were eventually able to loosen their restraints and subdue the remaining suspect after retrieving a knife from the home’s kitchen. Then, the victims fled from the home and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victims, who both sustained minor injuries during their escape. The remaining suspect in DeSoto had fled prior to their arrival, but police said he may have sustained significant injuries during the fight with the victims as they were escaping, including several defensive knife wounds to his hands and possibly a severe knife wound to his leg.

The victims told police that they knew one of the three suspects from a business venture. He has been identified as 20-year-old Noah Solomon Gulzar, and was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 12 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Gulzar is facing two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity with a deadly weapon, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information – elderly individual, police said.

Police have not identified the other two suspects but say “Since one of the suspects was an acquaintance of the victims, we believed they were specifically targeted, and at this time we do not believe this incident poses a significant danger to the community.”

It's not clear if the suspects had rented the Airbnb location for the alleged crime.

Police are asking anyone with information about the location of the three suspects to call the Midlothian Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 972-775-3333 or email at pd.cid@midlothian.tx.us
