COLLEGE STATION, Texas — On Tuesday, the College Station ISD Board of Trustees named Mindy Chapa the new principal for Spring Creek Elementary.

Chapa, who has 20 years of total experience in the field of education, has spent multiple years in different facets in Brazos Valley schools. During her time as a teacher, Chapa taught kindergarten in Bryan ISD and preschool in Anderson-Shiro CISD before moving on to campus administration.

As an administrator, Chapa has served as assistant principal at Kemp-Carver Elementary in Bryan ISD for four years, and most recently at Spring Creek Elementary in the same role since 2018. In December 2023, she was named interim principal of the school after former principal Chris Southard moved to College View High School to work in the same position.

"I am truly honored to be selected to serve as the next principal of Spring Creek Elementary," Chapa said in a press release. "My last six years here have taught me that this is a special place with even better people. I am committed to continuing to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and innovative environment for all our students, staff, and families."
