Contractor pleads guilty to swindling Cameron woman out of $60,000

The trial was set to begin Tuesday morning.

MILAM COUNTY, Texas — Brendan Myers, the Central Texas contractor who was indicted for stealing thousands from Diane Yates, pled guilty to all charges on Tuesday, Feb. 20, according to Yates.

According to Yates, Myers will have to pay all the money back that he stole and the Assistant District Attorney Brian Price is still working out all of the details.

Myers had been indicted in 2023 for 2nd degree felony theft $30,000 to $150,000 from elderly and two counts of theft $2,500 to $30,000.

Yates claimed to have paid Myers $60,000 to remodel a home, only for him to never finish the job. She says Brendon Myers of United Construction LLC took advantage of her when she was in search of a contractor. He started renovating her house, but months later, it never got finished.

6 News spoke with Yates on Tuesday, she shared how grateful she was that this was no longer going to trial and how it's good to know that things will soon be corrected.
