AUSTIN, Texas — A body was recovered from Lady Bird Lake in East Austin on Saturday morning, the Austin Police Department (APD) said. The incident is not being investigated as a homicide.
APD said officers responded to Krieg Field at 512 S. Pleasant Valley Road, near Longhorn Dam, around 7:37 a.m. after a fisherman located an unknown body floating in the water. The Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the scene to assist and provide medical aid.
By the time APD arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at 7:52 a.m.
At this time, this is being considered an isolated incident with no threat to the general public, APD said.
APD could not provide any information on the person’s identity but said the victim was possibly a man.
The investigation is ongoing. No other details are available at this time.
