Brazos Transit District to receive $8.8M in FTA Coronavirus Relief Funds

A federal grant of $8,830,021 for relief following the economic distress caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, was awarded to the Brazos Transit District.

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — Sen. John Cornyn has announced that a federal grant of $8,830,021 for relief following the economic distress caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, was awarded to the Brazos Transit District.

The funding, which was appropriated by Congress last month as part of the CARES Act, comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

“As Texas reels from the economic destruction caused by the coronavirus outbreak, it’s important our public transportation systems have the resources they need to weather the storm,” said Sen. Cornyn.

With this grant, the Brazos Transit District will support ADA paratransit service and purchase PPE, cleaning supplies, and other items to protect staff and riders. 

Minimum one year experience in public transit driving and one year s... upervisory experience, or two years in public transit driving. Must have Class B CDL w/ passenger endorsement and be able to pass a DOT drug screen and physical. Must be familiar with State and local traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in the operation of vehicles.
