Power restored to thousands in College Station after birds found responsible for outage

The city says about 4,200 customers were affected by the outage, which was resolved within half an hour.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — After a late morning power outage affected thousands in the College Station area, the city has announced that power has been restored for those affected and birds were responsible for the outage.

According to the city, birds got into a bus tie switch between two transformers at a substation plant. The outage affected roughly 4,200 customers from University Drive to Southwest Parkway between Texas Avenue and Highway 6.

The outage was first reported around 10:40 a.m., and officials provided an update that all power had been restored around 11:05 a.m.
