COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A family is raising money after tragically losing a loved one.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas A&M University professor Dr. Qinglei Li was involved in a three-vehicle crash on state Highway 105 and County Road 417.

The Grimes County crash occurred around 9:02 a.m. Monday when an 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound, when a Nissan Rogue and a Hyundai Palisade were both traveling westbound.

Li, 51, who was driving the Nissan, crossed the center line and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.

He struck the 18-wheeler head-on, and was hit again by the Hyundai and pronounced dead on the scene.

The drivers of the 18-wheeler and the Hyundai were both transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Through the university's website, Li was listed as a professor in Veterinary Integrative Biosciences at A&M's School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

The following is an excerpt from the GoFundMe page from Xiuren Zhang:

In the blink of an eye, a tragedy struck the heart of a loving family. A father, who is just 51 years old and the sole employee, was taken from them in a devastating car accident, leaving behind a grieving widow and two young children to navigate a world suddenly devoid of its guiding light. The weight of loss is intensified by the harsh reality that this family now faces a daunting financial burden, one they could never have anticipated.

As the shock of their loss settles, the painful truth emerges: funeral expenses loom overhead, a necessary yet unbearably heavy cost to honor the life of their beloved husband and father. In addition to this sorrowful obligation, the family will also need to cope with legal fees as they navigate the aftermath of the accident, seeking justice and closure amidst their grief.

For the mother, who dedicated herself to nurturing her family's home and hearts, the future is now uncertain and anxious with worries. With no income of her own, she is left to bear the weight of financial responsibility alone, while simultaneously comforting her children through their immeasurable sorrow. The eldest child, a student striving for a brighter future through education, faces the specter of mounting college expenses without the support of his father's income. Meanwhile, the youngest, only 13 years old, must confront the harsh realities of life far sooner than any child should.

In the face of such overwhelming hardship, we extend our hands in solidarity and sympathy. Let us come together as a community, offering what support we can to lighten the burden this family carries. Every contribution, no matter how small, is a beacon of hope in their darkest period. Together, we can ease their financial tension and offer them the comfort of knowing they are not alone in their time of need. Let us stand with them, as they navigate the treacherous waters of grief and loss, and help them find solace in the knowledge that they are surrounded by love and support.
