Britney Romero was found in the courtyard of Dunn Hall, a dorm on the south side of campus. Officials said they think she fell from a third-floor balcony.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A Texas A&M University freshman who was found dead on Sunday was from Baytown.

Britney Romero was found in the courtyard of Dunn Hall, a dorm on the south side of campus.

University officials said it looked like she fell from a third-story balcony.

"We want to emphasize that Texas A&M’s top priority is our commitment to the well-being and safety of all our students. We intend to conduct a thorough and comprehensive review of what happened immediately. We know this is difficult news to share with our student body," the university said in a release.

It's unclear how she fell and an autopsy was ordered to find out when and how she died.

Romero was a health major.

The university encouraged students to seek support during this time. University Health Services and Student Assistance Services have counselors and case workers available to provide assistance.

Students can also access the TELUS Health Support App, available on Apple and Google app stores, for further support. Texas A&M's HelpLine is also accessible at 979-845-2700, with service available from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends.

"We encourage our Aggie community to come together to support one another, as we always do at times like this, while also praying for and supporting Britney’s family and all those grieving this tragic loss," TAMU said.
