These are the 11 spookiest spots in Texas

From the old Spaghetti Warehouse to Hotel Galvez and spots across Texas, these are some of the Lone Star State's biggest frights!

HOUSTON — Things are bigger and apparently spookier in Texas, so if you're up for one of the scariest road trips ever, we dug deep into the haunted history of our state and found 11 of the most haunted places in the Lone Star State.

We start at La Carafe in Houston. This wine bar is believed to be the oldest in town. Over the years, employees have reported hearing children play upstairs, bottles falling off shelves and even feeling cold spots in the restroom.

Not far from there is another creepy spot in downtown Houston -- the shuttered Spaghetti Warehouse, which is now a bar. It once housed a pharmaceutical company. According to the legend, a young pharmacist died in a tragic accident. Diners have reported seeing strange orbs, especially on the second floor.

Next, we slither down south to Galveston and Hotel Galvez. The haunted history of this place supposedly starts with a lovelorn lady who took her own life after the death of her fiancé.  Guests who dare stay on the fifth floor have reported hearing footsteps and doors slamming.

In Corpus Christi, the USS Lexington plays host to a terrifying haunted house during Halloween. And there's a reason for it. The decommissioned World War II aircraft carrier is now a museum that receives hundreds of reports of supernatural activity each year. No wonder it's considered one of the most haunted places in America.

For location number five, we find ourselves in Marfa, Texas, for the Marfa Lights. Sightings of red, blue and white lights started way back in 1883, and people continue to see the unusual orbs to this day. The mysterious flickers are so infamous that there's even a Marfa Lights viewing area so you can see them for yourself.

Next up, San Antonio. Remember the Alamo? Well, the ghosts there won't let you forget. The site of the bloody battle is now reportedly home to ghostly men in uniform. Visitors have even reported disembodied rally cries.

El Paso is spooky spot number seven. And let's be honest, El Paso High School even looks haunted. Still a school to this day, visitors report all sorts of paranormal activity. One of the weirdest is a 1985 yearbook photo where a mysterious girl in white reportedly appeared after the picture was taken.

in Austin, enter the Driscoll Hotel at your own risk. This haunted hotel gained its notoriety after a ghostly girl has been spotted on various occasions on the grand staircase where she allegedly died after losing her footing and falling.

In room 525, legend has it two brides both took their own lives in this exact room, exactly 20 years apart.

Heading north to College Station to pay a visit to the Animal Industries Engineering Building at Texas A&M. Back in 1959, a worker died in a tragic accident. Since then, students and staff have reported hearing shrieks and even seeing footsteps that disappear.

Next, we're screeching our way up to Dallas for a look at the Adolphus Hotel. The elegant hotel is home to a guest who never left. A young bride to be apparently took her life after her fiancé left her at the altar. Now, staff and guests say they've heard a woman crying and others say they've seen a ghost in a wedding gown roaming the halls.

And for the 11th and final scary spot in Texas, we're heading east to Jefferson and another haunted hotel. The Jefferson Hotel was once a brothel and a speakeasy during Prohibition. According to the stories, room 19 is the most haunted of them all. Legend says a lady of the evening was killed in the bathtub. Guests have even seen her ghost in the bathroom mirror.

So if you dared to take a terrifying trip around Texas, you're almost guaranteed to have a paranormal experience in one of these 11 scary stops.
