HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are celebrating another big win after reports surfaced that offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik will be staying with the team for next season.

NFL insider Albert Breer reports that Slowik has agreed to a new deal with the Texans that includes a significant raise. Slowik interviewed and was a candidate for several head coaching positions around the league.

He has been considered a big part of the reason for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud’s success. Another person responsible for the star QB’s success is also staying.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson will also be staying with the team for the next season. He said Johnson informed the teams that were interested in hiring him as an offensive coordinator that he would be staying with the Texans.

Rapoport reported that Johnson wanted to finish what he started with Stroud, Slowik, and head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Stroud received more recognition for his breakout rookie season Tuesday night when he was named Athlete of the Year at the Houston Sports Awards.

The Texans organization was also recognized with the Moment of the Year Award for when the team drafted Stroud and then traded back up to select defensive end Will Anderson Jr. in the 2023 NFL Draft.
