TxDOT: Rail line to be removed in Grimes County on Monday

The closure is to have the rail line removed, according to TxDOT.

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — A temporary closure will be coming to part of Grimes County on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The closure will take place at FM 39 at the BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Crossing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to have the rail line removed. 

Detours will be in place, and will have the following effects on traffic:

  • Northbound drivers will detour towards SH 90, then head further north on SH 90 to FM 1696, and then west on FM 1696 towards Iola
  • Southbound drivers will detour east to SH 90 on FM 1696 and then south on SH 90 towards Singleton

Detour signage will also be in place to make drivers aware of the changes. TxDOT also advises drivers to plan alternate routes during the closure.
