COLLEGE STATION, Brazos County — The 16th annual 50 Men Who Can Cook event for the College Station ISD Education Foundation will be held this Friday at the Brazos County Expo Complex.

Despite the event's name, over 130 men will be competing in the adults-only event to cook up the best appetizers, entrées, soups, and desserts. There will also be celebrity chefs participating from the community, including bankers, doctors, engineers, firefighters, police officers, CSISD parents, and more.

"50 Men Who Can Cook is a fun event that brings together the entire community to help raise funds for our students and teachers," said CSISD Education Foundation Board Member and event chairman Mike Newkham in a press release. "We are proud to host this event for the community."

Those in attendance will be able to sample the dishes cooked by the teams and participate in other events for prizes. Proceeds from the event will go towards helping CSISD through classroom projects, student scholarships, staff awards, and other educational programs, among other things.

"We are deeply thankful for the thousands of people that support CSISD through this event-- celebrity chefs, sponsors, donors, vendors, volunteers, board members and attendees," said CSISD Education Foundation Executive Director Teresa Benden in a press release. "It is a monumental effort and we are so grateful for the community's support of our local public schools."

One of the attractions this year is an inflatable Plinko booth where those in attendance can play games to enter into drawings for prizes. Some of the prizes include a $1,000 H-E-B Gift Card, a $500 Pride Cleaners Gift Card & a JWR Sports Coat, or Whataburger for a Year.

There will also be multiple other raffles to win items, one of which includes a $5,000 shopping spree at David Gardner's Jewelers. Raffle tickets are $100, with only 250 available for purchase.
