The former Temple High standout will join the rest of the council as it meets at the SEC offices on Feb. 2 and 3.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M's Taurean York will represent the Aggies at the SEC Football Leadership Council this February, announced Texas A&M Athletics Communications on Feb. 1.

The former Temple High standout will join the rest of the council as it meets at the SEC offices on Feb. 2 and 3.

Items on the agenda for the weekend reportedly include a meeting with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, a review of NCAA and SEC legislative items, a conversation with SEC Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Katie O'Neal and engagement with football officials on rules of the game, student-referee interaction ad careers in officiating.

The council will also reportedly review SEC student-athlete engagement opportunities.

The other members of the SEC Football Leadership Council will include:

  • DeVonta Smith from Alabama
  • Cameron Ball from Arkansas
  • Eugene Asante from Auburn
  • Derek Wingo from Florida
  • Jalon Walker from Georgia
  • Eli Cox from Kentucky
  • Josh Williams from LSU
  • JJ Pegues from Ole Miss
  • Hayes Hammond from Mississippi State

The Football Leadership Council is one of three components of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council, alongside the Men's and Women's Basketball Leadership Councils, according to Texas A&M Athletics Communications.

The Leadership Councils and Student-Athlete Advisory Council provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff, said A&M. The councils serve as a "conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules."
