On Friday, the Mays Family Foundation announced a $25 million gift to support the construction of a new graduate education building in the Mays Business Education Complex (BEC).

The donation was announced during a ceremony, and is the largest single donation in the history of the Mays Business School, also ranking among the largest gifts to an academic program at Texas A&M.

“Lowry Mays and his family have been giving back to Texas A&M for a lifetime,” said General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, president of Texas A&M University. “This incredible gift adds another layer to their contributions to Texas A&M and to Aggies who want to follow in Mr. Mays’ remarkable footsteps.”

Back in 2017, the Mays Family Foundation committed $25 million in support of the school, which at the time was the largest single commitment in Texas A&M history. This most recent gift brings the total that the Mays Family Foundation has donated to Texas A&M to $72 million.

“This generous investment by the Mays Family Foundation will help us continue to fulfill our vision of building a better future through business,” said Mays Dean Nate Sharp. “Having a building dedicated specifically to excellence in graduate education showcases our school’s commitment to recruiting the best and brightest graduate students and developing leaders of character who exemplify the Aggie Core Values throughout their careers.”

The new building that the funding is being put towards will help support a further influx of students as well as provide more opportunities for current programs as well as new programs designed to meet new demands, including multiple Mays Flex Online master's programs and an Engineering MBA program.
