Man sentenced to life in prison for human trafficking, child sexual abuse in Madison County

Shawn Allen was sentenced after being found guilty of Human Trafficking and Sexual Abuse of a Child on May 1.

MADISON COUNTY, Texas — On May 1, a man received a life sentence after being found guilty of Human Trafficking and Sexual Abuse of a Child in 2020 by a Madison County Judge.

In August 2020, a female victim brought to light what Shawn Allen, the man sentenced, had done to her. According to the Madison County District Attorney's Office, Allen would "take her to trailer houses and force her to have sex for money and drugs."

According to witness statements, the victim was 14 years old at the time of the abuse and would leave with Allen, later returning with drugs and money, and would even be taken into Allen's room alone.

Allen's crimes didn't stop there, as the victim also revealed that she was sexually abused by him, given methamphetamine, and even had Allen's name and codes tattooed on her ankle.

An investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Office and Attorney General's Office Human Trafficking Division discovered that Allen and the victim lived together in Midway for a few months between January 2020 and March 2020.

Allen was sentenced after a bench trial by Judge David Moorman.

"As the District Attorney, I am proud we were able to send a dangerous sexual predator to prison for the remainder of his life. He will never return to Madison County!" said District Attorney Courtney Cain. "I also am proud we obtained justice for the victim, so she can continue the healing process following such horrific abuse."
