Former TAMU Employee arrested for allegedly placing camera in bathroom

The employee was arrested Thursday and resigned the same day. The device was said to be planted in a TAMU Transportation Building.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A former Texas A&M Transportation Services employee was arrested, Thursday, charged with allegedly putting a video recording device in an employee bathroom.

Peter Baty, 54, is accused of placing a video camera in an device that resembled a phone charger in a restroom at the TAMU Transit Building on Agronomy Road. 

The bathroom is used mainly by transportation services employees and not the general public, according to a release from Texas A&M. 

Texas A&M University Police are investigating the case and attempting to identify potential victims. Anyone who believes they might be a victim should email their name and phone number to Detective Rogers with TAMU Police at rrogers@tamu.edu. 

"We will not tolerate invasions of privacy against members of our campus community," said TAMU President Michael K Young in a statement. "Not only is this behavior a criminal act but it is also deeply counter to the values we hold dear at Texas A&M." 

Baty was booked into the Brazos County Jail, Thursday, charged with improper photo/video in a bathroom. A bond has not yet been set.
