GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — Around 5 p.m. in Grimes County, some residents may hear a series of loud explosions.

According to the county sheriff's office, the blasts are from the Gibbons Creek Environmental Redevelopment Group (CGERG) firing test blasts at the Lignite Silos in the Carlos area as the group prepares for demolition.

Four delayed blasts using dynamite will be detonated just milliseconds apart, and will not bring the silos down.
