Baylor Scott & White completes phase one of new expansion

Baylor Scott and White completed its most recent phase of expansion by adding 27 new beds that will help with patient and nurse functionality.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Twenty-seven new hospital beds are in use at Baylor Scott & White in College Station.

This is the first part of three phases. Sixteen new beds were put into use Tuesday evening on the intermediate care floor.

During phase two and three, eight new beds will be added to women's and children's services and three to patient rooms in the emergency department.

These high-tech beds also have safety measures and alarms to prevent patients from falling.

The beds are equipped with lights that shine on the floor, making it easier for nurses in the night to check on patients without waking them.

There are also motion-activated night lights on the bed, which prompt the staff if a patient may need help.

The bed also provides an extra remote for patients to control the beds, as well as a USB port and a cell phone holder.

Baylor Scott & White said the new beds will give them the opportunity to take care of 1700  more patients.
