The Wall that Heals arrives in College Station

The Wall that Heals was transported on an 18-wheeler escorted by a motorcade across Bryan-College Station.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Wall that Heals display arrived in College Station on Tuesday afternoon.

The display is set to be a replica of the Vietnam memorial located in Washington D.C. The wall is set to be unveiled to the Brazos Valley community in an opening ceremony taking place on Thursday, April 27.

Volunteers plan to work on preparing the display on Wednesday before the big ceremony. On Tuesday, motorcyclists from the local Harley Owners Group as well as members of our law enforcement agencies, all gathered to escort the wall to its location in Veterans Park.

Gary Jackson, a local Air Force veteran in the Brazos Valley, said that symbols like this are crucial to make Vietnam veterans feel appreciated for their service.

“We have a lot of veterans, a lot of military. Whether they're retired or not, I think it shows they still care about the guys that got killed and they didn't come back, or the MIA thing. I think it shows they still care," said Jackson.
