COLLEGE STATION, Texas — More Texas A&M players that have entered the transfer portal have committed to new programs across the nation for the next college football season.

Earlier today, TE Blake Smith announced on Twitter that he had committed to Oklahoma. The sophomore out of Southlake, TX played in just three games for the Aggies in 2022, recording two receptions in A&M's 13-10 loss to Auburn.

In prior years, Smith was sidelined due to injuries. He missed the entire 2020 season with a knee injury, and was also injured in 2021, limiting the amount of time that he spent on the field.

Smith will join the Sooners with three years of eligibility, and will be coached by coach Joe Jon Finley, who coached Texas A&M's tight ends in 2019. Finley left A&M to join Ole Miss at the end of the 2019 season. He spent a year with the Rebels before joining his alma mater's football staff in 2021.

Less than a week now remains in the first transfer portal window, which will officially close on Thursday, Jan. 19. Following that Jan. 19 cutoff, the next chance that players will have to enter the portal will be in the spring.
