Tahoka, the abandoned dog found in College Station nearly two months ago, is ready to be adopted

Because of his past, the Aggieland Humane Society is going to be filtering applications for Tahoka to make sure he gets adopted by a committed and loving family.

BRYAN, Texas — Tahoka, the previously abandoned poodle mix found in College Station, is now up for adoption. He has been in the Aggieland Humane Society's care since he was found in late August.

However, Tahoka's adoption process won't be like other dogs currently in the shelter's care. Due to his past, the Aggieland Humane Society will be combing through applications for him to ensure his next home is dedicated, caring, and committed to his well being.

The shelter also noted that because of Tahoka's past, he is still working on basic obedience training and potty training--a training that "could be a lifelong undertaking."

For those interested in adopting Tahoka, you can fill out an adoption application on the Aggieland Humane Society's website. The shelter is also asking for those looking to adopt Tahoka to submit a written letter detailing why Tahoka would be a good fit for you and what resources you can provide to him.

Applications and letters will be accepted until Thursday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m.
